| February 2003 A group of kind-hearted workers at Wednesbury-based Red Mill Snack Foods, have made a £1,000 donation to the Sandwell Macmillan Nurses charity. The Red Mill ‘Charity Committee’ is made up of a group of workers who each year raise money for worthy causes. Committee spokeswoman Carol Hall said: “We chose Macmillan Nurses as the recipient of this year’s fund raising cheque as their work has touched the lives of so many people.” The committee’s fund raising activities have included a disco and the raffling of a West Bromwich Albion shirt and Giant Teddy donated by John Bradley, Licensee of Wednesbury’s Blue Ball pub, which raised £400. Other donations have been received from Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, Aston Villa FC, Walsall FC, West Bromwich Building Society, Arco and Gala Bingo, Wednesbury, along with Charity Committee members’ families and friends. The Charity Committee have also raised an additional £650 for donation to the Birmingham Childrens’ Hospital appeal.
