Red Mill Scoops Top Business Awards

Red Mill Snack Foods has just been awarded "Business of the Year" and the "Developing People and Skills Award" in recognition of the Wednesbury based company being one of best businesses and employers in its region. Judged by representatives from the Best of the Black Country Awards panel, these accolades are a great achievement for Red Mill, as Managing Director James McKinney explains:

"People in the snacking industry know all about Red Mill. We produce the highest quality own label snacks for many of the leading supermarkets, as well as our own Red Mill and Mr Porky branded ranges for all food retailers. Red Mill is well established and well respected, which is exactly what we want on a national business scale. What we haven't had before is a sign from our geographical neighbours that they know we are here and appreciate what we are doing in the community. I think these awards show us just that.

"Business of the Year is a very welcome pat on the back and it means all of our hard work is paying off. As well as being one of the most successful businesses, we are also a major employer in this area and I feel that the fact that we have also received the award for having the best staff development programmes in the region speaks volumes. Red Mill has a lot of people to look after, and we do just that. That's why the business is so successful."

For the top Award of Business of the Year judges assessed companies from across the region to find the most innovative products, services and processes, as well as identifying those which displayed a long-term commitment to the region, the local community and the environment - with Red Mill beating off stiff competition to come out on top.

To win the Developing People and Skills Award Red Mill demonstrated the outstanding quality of its training and the development programmes, which have benefits for the business, community and the individual. It also showed that it recognises the contribution of individuals and teams across the organisation.
