Enjoying a night at the races
(but mr porky is the real winner)

Mr Porky celebrated the launch of his revamped product range in style – with a party for scratching lovers from far and wide.

A mixture of customers, suppliers, journalists from trade and consumer media titles and personnel from Porky manufacturer Red Mill Snack Foods met up at the Atlas pub in Fulham to join in the celebrations.

They were treated to samples of the improved Mr Porky range, including his two new product lines, Prime Cut scratchings and flavoured crispy Bacon Bites, along with a glass or two of pink champagne and a luxury bacon sandwich.

The evening ended in front of the big screen with guests betting paper money on pre-recorded video pig races. There was even a live race in the pub’s bar involving eight finely tuned, battery operated fluffy oinking pigs.

The three highest earners walked away with spot prizes and every guest received a goody bag complete with product samples and a bottle of Traditional English Ale from the Hogsback Brewery (because as all scratching lovers know, there’s snout better with a pint than a bag of Mr Porky).

And waiting to greet people on arrival, wave them off as they left and cheer on the pigs as they raced for glory was Mr Porky himself – or at least a six foot Mr Porky character costume dressed in his trademark blue and white striped apron and brandishing a pretend meat cleaver.

Britain’s best selling range of pork scratchings deserved a special event to mark its reinvention. People who attended Mr Porky’s launch night at the Atlas would hopefully agree this little gathering was special indeed.
